The country’s largest almond-producing state has seen acreage drop again this year, marking its third consecutive year of decline.
California’s total almond acreage has fallen by more than 16,000 acres year-over-year with totals reaching just over 1.5 million. The Almond Board of California says that this trend has not been seen since 1995.
However, despite the decline shipments have held strong.
This year California’s almond industry broke records, shipping more than 200 million pounds of almonds over the course of eleven months.
A new study has found that almonds may enhance post-exercise recovery.
The research found individuals engaging in regular physical activity may benefit from incorporating almonds into their diet, with almonds potentially helping to reduce muscle pain and damage while enhancing muscle performance.
