California’s pistachio crop is expected to be smaller this year, but not quite as bad as in years past.
One local Farm Bureau tells AgInfo.net they have got their focus on exports.
“When you talk things like almonds, for example, almonds, you know, it’s still approximately almost 80% of the supply that we grow here in California is exported. It’s still very, very important when it comes to what we do there. California’s number one supplier of both almonds and pistachios on the market, and so we definitely want to make sure we not only continue that but continue to build upon. Those markets are so important for the destinations there,” said Fresno County Farm Bureau CEO Ryan Jacobsen.
Jacobsen says this year’s pistachio crop is looking good overall, and he is hoping that foreign sales pick up over the next couple of months.
