Officials are still assessing the damage of California’s Mountain Fire as it has burned 20,000 acres

Southern California firefighters have made significant progress in combating a wildfire that has burned more than 20,000 acres in Ventura County.

The Mountain Fire began last Wednesday and quickly grew and was fueled by Santa Ana winds.

Ventura County is a major ag producing community, contributing more than $2 billion to the economy in crop production alone each year. Leading crops include berries, citrus, avocadoes, and other specialty crops.

While little is known about the ag damage caused by the fires, more than 130 structures, mostly homes, were destroyed.
