Oklahoma Pork Board is kicking off the holiday spirit with the Give-A-Ham Campaign

Oklahoma’s pork producers are looking to give back this Christmas season, taking part in the Oklahoma Pork Council’s Give-A-Ham Campaign.

The campaign kicked off on Giving Tuesday and will run through Christmas Eve, spreading Christmas cheer through the gift of a holiday ham this season. Oklahoma Pork Council Treasurer Tom Layne says the challenge is especially near and dear to his heart. His own family was humbled by the help of others during the Christmas season. By providing just one eight-pound ham to a local food pantry, you are providing 32 servings of protein to a community member fighting food insecurity.

“Really I think it’s innate in us as pork producers because we have stewardship over those animals. And I got a great story for you. When we have inclement weather, we will have 100% attendance at our farms, you know, and that tells you how much our employees care for the animals, and what we want to do is we want to give that same back to our fellow human beings as well.”

Layne says the Give-A-Ham Campaign does not just take place in his home state of Oklahoma, but is a national campaign. He encourages anyone interested to get involved.
