Parts of the U.S. could see a “parade of storms” soon, according to a USDA Meteorologist

As 2024 winds down, the chance of precipitation is not going anywhere.

USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey says that a “parade of storms” is making its way to the northwest just in time for New Year’s Eve, with conditions in the rest of the country being a toss up.

“We do see occasional light rain, light snow depending on what part of the country you’re in, and we are also going to see a warming trend as we wind down 2024,” he explains. “So the areas that are experiencing frozen or freezing precipitations, snow and freezing rain, will deminish as we move beyond Christmas and into the final days of 2024. More areas receiving light rain; not as much freezing rain or snow— so that certainly favors travel.”

Rippey says that the one exception to the overall pattern of light precipitation is the possibility of two to four inches of rainfall in the South Eastern Plains into the mid-South.
