Even with planting season still in full swing, many are already considering moving crops after harvest and what that will look like this year. Experts are warning that another year of low river levels is not out of the question.
The low levels along the Mississippi River set records the past two years, causing issues for farmers sending grains south and fertilizer north. The National Weather Service in Louisiana says similar conditions are possible for this year.
This prediction comes as issues still continue for the Panama Canal due to drought and along the Red Sea due to military conflict. The Army Corps of Engineers recommends planning for the worst and hoping for the best.
