A new report shows just how much of an impact the drought had on California’s ag industry.
The state agriculture department said dry conditions cost the sector more than $1,000,000,000 and nearly 9,000 full-time and part-time jobs in 2021. In the Central Valley, which is one of the most productive agriculture regions in the world, the drought kept farmers from cultivating 400,000 acres. The drought monitor will be updated tomorrow, and we’ll see if the West is getting any relief.
