The Renewable Fuels Association is once again calling on the EPA for information on the agency’s biofuel feedstock investigation, urging for stricter requirements on imported used cooking oil.
Used cooking oil imports have jumped twelve times compared to 2021.
RFA President and CEO Geoff Cooper says that the increase is to blame for low demand for domestic feedstocks like distillers corn oil and soybean oil.
Today, nearly one out of every six gallons of U.S.-produced, biomass-based diesel is made from imports. China and Brazil are two of the biggest suppliers.
Cooper says that RFA is asking for an update saying it audits are not complete a timeline for completion would do.
