Secretary Vilsack reflects on his lifetime of service as a new administration prepares for office

He was once Iowa’s Governor, and has held the office of U.S. Secretary of Agriculture across two administrations.

Tom Vilsack is no stranger to Washington DC and the inner workings at USDA.

We were lucky enough to get a chance to sit down with the Secretary, reflecting on all that USDA has accomplished with him leading the way, including making small and mid-sized farms a priority.

Vilsack also expressed that during his time, USDA has played a key role in investing in small to mid-size farming systems and he is hopeful that the benefits of that will be evident in years to come.

He shared that when it comes to his legacy, well, the U.S. Ag Secretary humbly shared that it is the people at USDA that have made key initiatives possible.
He went on to say that there is a lot to be proud of, including USDA’s investments in food security and nutrion programming over the course of the last four years.

He also highlighted the increased efforts by the Forest Service to reduce wildfires across our great nation.
