Sen. Grassley: Attaching disaster aid to the Farm Bill likely won’t happen

When lawmakers return after the election, they will likely take up disaster aid for those farmers and attach it to the Farm Bill.

However, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley does not think it will pan out.

“With just two weeks in November and three weeks in December, it would preclude any Senate Agriculture Committee input into it because just the leaders of the two Ag committees would be working it out.”

Grassley has long said he believes there will need to be another extension of the 2018 Farm Bill, but Congressional ag leaders are still holding out hope a new Farm Bill could cross the finish line before the year is up.
