Ag lawmakers and their teams have been reviewing the Senate Farm Bill text since its release early this week.
Iowa’s Chuck Grassley says the release was too late.
“The timing of this bill is disappointing and unrealistic. As you know, the 2018 Farm Bill expired September 30th. Since then, we’ve been operating on a one-year extension. It’s a sad commentary that Senate Democrats kept farmers waiting two years before even releasing a bill taxed while producers waited.”
Incoming Majority Leader, Senator John Thune is weighing in, too. He says lawmakers are working hard right now for rural America, but it might take until next year to get a new Farm Bill.
