The Senate Finance Committee is scheduled to vote on the confirmation of Doug McKalip as Chief Ag Trade Negotiator on September 7th. He has been through several hearings so far where lawmakers have criticized the Biden Administration’s stance on free trade. Senate Ag Committee member Chuck Grassley says it is time to get this position filled.
“I expect this nominee will be voted out of committee favorably. I think he’s well qualified. And most importantly, to speed it along. We badly need new leadership in this position,” said Grassley.
If McKalip’s nomination passes Committee, it will go on to a full vote in the Senate.
