The Livestock Conservancy removed Hereford hogs and Southdown sheep from its annual list. The group moved Spanish goats, Tamworth pigs and Rhinelander rabbits from the “watch” category to “recovering.”
In all, 15 at-risk breeds had their places shifted, and the 2024 list contains 180 breeds. Among them is the famous Texas longhorn, which is considered “critical.”
