The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is staying in Las Vegas.

Friday, officials with the NFR reached an agreement on a new contract, which means the annual finals will be held in Las Vegas for another 10 years.

Both Orlando, Fla., and Dallas, Texas, tried to lure the big rodeo event away from its home of 29 years.

Las Vegas officials said losing the rodeo, which pumps nearly $60 million a year into the local economy, would have been a huge blow.

“We are relieved that we were able to assemble an agreement that both ensures that the Wrangler NFR will remain in Las Vegas for the long term and that all parties will prosper,” said Pat Christenson, president of Las Vegas Events, in a statement Friday.

This year’s NFR will run Dec. 4-13 at the Thomas and Mack Center.
