The U.S. and Japan agree, in principle, on a trade deal.
Japan will buy excess corn, but the deal will also give more market access to beef, pork, wheat, dairy products, wine, and ethanol. U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer says the U.S. will enjoy the same level of tariffs on farm goods as countries in the new Trans-pacific Partnership. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe made the announcement at the G7 meeting in France.
Officials plan to sign it next month in New York at the United Nations General Assembly.
