As many restaurants close amid the coronavirus crisis, it is now especially difficult for heavy-duty truck drivers to get food. One Sonic location in Fordyce, Arkansas is helping that with a drive-thru built specifically for 18-wheelers.
The Sonic location features 17 stalls for smaller passenger vehicles and two standalone menus for trucks pulling trailers and a third just for buses and big rigs.
The Arkansas drive-thru has actually been open since September of 2018. According to Land Line Now, after the initial post about the drive-thru went viral, an outpouring of support came in from around the country.
“We know how many trucks there are on the highway, and we wanted to find a way to accommodate them. Those guys get hungry too, so it seemed like time to do something about it,” Sonic area supervising partner Travis Larison told Land Line Now.
Roughly 500 trucks use drive-thru each month.
