As we previously reported, the USDA is expanding its investigation into the meat packing industry, due to growing concerns of market manipulations. Cattlemen organization are now asking the Department of Justice to assist with the investigation; the involvement of the DoJ would offer a larger scope to the investigation.
Jerome Rosa, executive director for the Oregon Cattlemen Association, believes that the allege market manipulation by the meat packing industry is causing substantial losses for meat producers.
