Farmers are waiting to see if we will learn details about a second round of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program this week.
Pro Farmer’s Jim Wiesemyer says that this round should be revenue based: “The biggest news on CFAP 2, if my sources are correct, it’ll will move to a revenue type program, as opposed to just a price program, and if that’s the case that makes a lot of sense to me. A revenue is just so much better than just hit in the dark what the price at a specific date, that was some of the problems with CFAP 1.”
Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue has said that there is enough money for a second round of CFAP. Producers had hoped to learn more last week about how this program will work.
They are hopeful to get some news this week.
