A black lab that fell through the ice in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin (chien means dog in French, by the way, appropriately enough) on Saturday was lucky to have the local volunteer fire department training just a few miles down the road. A ladder truck quickly arrived on the scene, and a couple of firefighters fished the struggling dog out of the icy waters – to the deep gratitude of both the cold canine and its owners!
