Kansas City Southern agrees to merge with Canadian National in $33.6B deal

A new agreement has been reached in the acquisition of Kansas City Southern Railway.

The rail line is ending its merger agreement with Canadian Pacific, choosing instead to merge with Canadian National Railway.

CN offered $4.5 billion dollars more in its unsolicited bid and also offered to pay off a $700 million dollar termination fee to break off the deal with Canadian Pacific.

CN says that it will move its headquarters to Missouri. The merger will create the first rail link between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
