Agriculture officials are focused on cybersecurity after the recent high-profile hacking events against JBSand the Colonial Pipeline.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack told the Wall Street Journal’s Global Forum that there is a role USDA can play in terms of cybersecurity.
According to Vilsack, “The role is a convening role. To convene the food companies and food systems to make sure that they understand the steps that they need to take to harden their systems. We have a cybersecurity intelligence agency that has put together a series of recommendations that if we follow them, our systems will be significantly hardened to the kind of hacking that we have seen.”
Also at the forum, ag companies ADM stated they are deepening investments in technology as they bolster its defense against hackers.
