We could learn today what the EPA recommends for biofuel blending requirements. Leaked documents obtained by Reuters show blending requirements for last year could drop by up to three million gallons retroactively, along with a significant cut to the requirements for this year.
Reuters says that the ethanol industry would take the biggest hit.
These changes could result in a total blending obligation of nearly 21 billion gallons for next year.
House Republicans want President Biden to keep the promises he made in the Renewable Fuel Standard. In a letter to the White House, more than 20 representatives say, “If your administration makes the unprecedented move to reopen the finalized 2020 RVO, and strip the demand for billions of gallons, the industry will certainly be devastated.”
