The pork industry is expressing grave concern over the temporary non-immigrant visa, saying that farms and processors are at risk of being shut down.
The TN Visa allows workers from Canada and Mexico to come to the U.S. to temporarily fill specific jobs. It was created under NAFTA, but the National Pork Producers Council says that applicants are being denied entry for no cause and producers are not able to appeal.
In one case, NPPC says that a veterinarian from Mexico was denied entry and told the decision is final. It submitted comments to the State Department and called for a major increase in audits for these cases.
