Right now workers at the Canadian Pacific Railway are voting on a strike.
The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference represents almost 3,000 unionized conductors, engineers, and yardmen. They are holding out for better wages, benefits, and pensions.
Legally, a worker stoppage can only happen after a 21 day “cooling off” period after negotiations. Strike ballots went out at the beginning of the month and will continue for the next week.
