Canada announced new efforts to protect its swine herd from disease.
Canada and Manitoba governments are investing more than half a million dollars for the project, which will seek out and euthanize invasive swine. That will stop diseases like ASF and PED in the herd. Manitoba says it will soon seek feedback from the public and interest groups.
The hog sector is the province’s third-most important commodity in terms of farm cash receipts.
