Lawmakers join farmers and biofuel groups in the call for year-round sales of E-15. They are asking the Biden administration to lift the summer ban on higher ethanol fuel blends, as part of an effort to lower gas prices.
This morning Senator Chuck Grassley told ag reporters that the White House is considering the move. The Iowa Senator calls it a common-sense proposal that will deliver immediate results.
“The President needs to act soon before this lower-cost fuel option is halted by EPA,” Grassley explains. “It would also be in line with President Biden’s goal of lowering greenhouse gas emissions but even now, the modeling used to measure biofuel emissions is completely out of date.”
He adds that Biden could issue an executive order to lift restrictions on E-15 sales between June 1st and September 15th.
