California farmworkers are advocating for a wildfire evacuation zone policy.
A Santa Rosa-based coalition is trying to drum up support by sending out letters, calling out for a policy that responds to farmworker concerns - that includes hazard pay and disaster insurance.
Dozens of organizations, including some agriculture groups, have signed on. The latest drought monitor showed almost all of Sonoma County is in a severe drought, which fuels wildfires and unsafe work conditions on farms.
