House lawmakers introduced a bill aimed at cooling port backlogs, while negotiations continue over the Ocean Shipping Reform Act.
The SHIP IT Act builds on a bill introduced in the Senate last year and includes ways to modernize ports, increase storage capacity, and a waiver to allow people who are at least 18 to qualify for a commercial driver’s license to work the port.
The Ocean Shipping Reform Act is back in the House, where lawmakers must approve changes made by the Senate.
