Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack says the dairy industry needs to agree on a milk pricing plan.
This comes as many members of the industry want to see changes to the current milk marketing system. Vilsack says there is probably a growing consensus that change is necessary, but it is not clear what the change should look like.
Late last year, the Dairy Pricing Opportunity Act was introduced which would require USDA to hold hearings on the Federal Milk Marketing Order Reform within six months of the bill’s passage.
