A rare pest was found at the Texas border

An invasive beetle tried to cross the Texas border this month.

It is the first time the Cochabamba beetle was spotted in the U.S.

Border Protection Ag Specialists found it inside a shipment of mangosteen plants from Mexico. It caused concern since the beetle’s larvae would skeletonize leaf surfaces.

This type of beetle is usually found in Central and South America.
