Unfavorable weather is certainly an issue for many producers this year, delaying their planting and leaving many worried about yield, but experts say there is still time.
Corn production specialists at Purdue University say the planting date only accounts for 12 percent of yield trend variability from year-to-year. They also say the later start might tempt growers to change hybrid maturity dates, but researchers suggest staying with the original intention until at least the end of May.
