The ripple effects of the war in Ukraine continue as blocked grain shipments push more countries toward starvation.
Ukrainian exports of corn, wheat, and barley are down 56 percent compared to this time last year, and that is what one European Union official is calling Russia’s real war crime.
Because of the invasion, planting in Ukraine was down 20 percent, and a quarter of producers there cannot get the supplies they need. Before the war, Ukraine was the world’s third-largest grain shipper.
