Ukraine has asked Turkey to help investigate three Russian ships as part of their efforts to find what it alleges is the theft of grain from the occupied territory.
Last month, The Ukrainian prosecutor general’s office asked Turkey’s justice ministry to investigate three named ships it thinks have had a hand in transporting grain that is said to be stolen from occupied Ukrainian territories, Reuters reports.
Three large bulk carriers, Mikhail Neneshev, Matros Pozynich, and Matros Koshka are owned by a subsidiary of a Russian state-owned company, a shipping database.
Ukraine has accused Moscow of stealing grain since the invasion began in February, and Russia has denied such allegations numerous times.
According to official data, grain accounts for almost a fifth of all of Ukraine’s exports.
