800,000 acres of farmland will be dry this year, according to CA Dept. of Ag

The drought streak and wildfire season are teaming up and taking a huge toll on farmers in the Golden State and their water supply.

California regulators have begun curtailing water rights on many farms along the Sacramento River. The California Department of Ag says that 800,000 acres of farmland are going to be left dry this year, and it is a very stressful time to be in agriculture right now.

This comes as the state has been in severe drought for quite some time. According to the Drought Monitor, the entire state is covered in orange and shades of red, meaning severe all the way to exceptionally dry conditions.
