In a year when we really need it, sorghum is getting hit hard by drought.
Producers are already struggling with high feed costs, shipping delays, and concerns over hay supply and price, and now, the condition numbers do not look good for sorghum. USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey gives us an update.
“Just 27 percent of the crop rated good to excellent... only a couple of states, Colorado and South Dakota have escaped the full ravages of this drought of 2022, and we see really high numbers coming in from our big production states: Kansas 43 percent very poor to poor and Texas 44 percent,” Rippey explains.
Nationally, numbers have sharply declined from last week.
