Texas is king in cotton, but the drought is taking a toll on the crop.
Tony St. James with All Ag All Day joined us on the Market Day Report from the edge of a pasture and cotton field for an unusual update after the area finally received some rain.
“Over here is where we picked up a couple of inches of rain over the last week. This was a dry land cotton field that was zeroed out by insurance back in June and now you are starting to see cotton sprout up in the middle of this field. So, obviously the rain has helped grow a cotton crop but that will never go to harvest,” said St. James
He says there is no value to a cotton crop that is sprouting at the end of August.
