A producer in central Illinois is voicing concerns over quality farmland being taken over by wind and solar energy infrastructure.
He calls it an invasion of productive farmland and says the Corn Belt has some of the more productive soils in the world and adds taking it out of production is “counterproductive”
In a recent survey of farm managers in Illinois, 40 percent of them said they have at least one deal with a wind company and 38 percent have an agreement with a solar company.
