Summit Carbon Solutions applies for a storage permit in North Dakota

A proposed pipeline across parts of the Midwest could soon get another green light.

Regulators in North Dakota are meeting with representatives from Summit Carbon Solutions this week. They are looking to get permits in the state for the underground storage of millions of tons of carbon dioxide. Summit got approval for the pipelines last month.

This project has been in the works for years and has been met with strong opposition from land owners in its path. When complete, Summit’s pipeline will be 2,500 miles long, costing $8 billion to build.
