Summit Carbon Solutions’ pipeline case pending before the Iowa Supreme Court

Summit Carbon Solution’s $8 billion carbon dioxide pipeline has hit yet another bump in the road.

Since the project’s announcement in 2022, the company has faced opposition from landowners in several states, even resulting in lawsuits.
The latest includes challenges to conditional approval granted by the Iowa Utilities Commission.

The case is pending before the Iowa Supreme Court with questions surrounding whether the company has the right to conduct surveys on private land. Despite the ongoing disputes, a summit spokesperson told AgriPulse they still expect to begin construction next year.
