Ruby the Red Spruce is a 78-foot-tall red spruce harvested from the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina. Fun fact: this marks the third time the National Forests in North Carolina has provided the tree!
Officials, including U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, and others lit the U.S. Captiol Christmas Tree last week.
The tradition of the Capitol Christmas Tree dates back to 1964 when John W. McCormack, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives placed one in the lawn.
