The Illinois Governor’s Sale of Champions broke a few records all while raising money for ag education.
John Richie, Managing Director of the CME Group, was in attendance. He shares why events like this are so important.
According to Richie, “This is one of those things where we feel like it’s incredibly important to invest in the future farmers of America. These students have worked so hard, and they need these types of skills, and resources, and experiences to help set them up for success as they’re the next generation of farmers here in America. And, we’re excited to see how they respond to the challenge of continuing to provide food to feed the global population.”
CME Group purchased this year’s Grand Champion Barrow for $24,000 dollars and awarded scholarships to the champions.
Records broken this year included a new $110,000 high for the Grand Champion Steer!
