The Patriot Junior Market Steer Show took place this weekend, a renewed chance for exhibitors after several show cancellations. Let’s head to what some call “the NFR of the steer world”.
Almost 1,700 exhibitors entered the arena at the 2021 Patriot Market Steer Show. They were followed by Miss Rodeo Texas, Jordan Maldonado, for the prestigious grand entry on Friday.
“I am so thankful to be a part of the Patriot Livestock Show because, unfortunately, the Fort Worth Stock Show where I was going to take my steer was canceled. So, I was so thankful I was able to exhibit my steer,” Miranda Skaggs stated.
4-H and FFA exhibitors traveled from seven regions of Texas.
“It means so much to be able to come to the show and get the opportunity to show my steer. I would like to thank everyone at the Patriot for allowing us to have this event, thank the Mier family and all of the volunteers that put this on in such a short amount of time,” Mason Allan stated. “When Fort Worth was canceled, I was really disappointed and didn’t know if I would ever get to show my steer. For them to put this on and have it run so well-- it was incredible.”
Judges selected 10 year old Mason Grady of Johnson County 4-H and his exotic steer Trenton as the overall Grand Champion Steer of the Show.
Grady stated, “Just the feeling after you win, it feels great. I just think it is mind blowing how a few people can make such a big difference.”
He sold Trenton for $50,000 dollars.
