U.S. officials underscored the ag sector’s commitment to sustainability at yesterday’s UN Food Systems Summit. The dairy industry is applauding the move, as it continues working to enhance global food and nutrition security.
Alan Bjerga with the National Milk Producers Federation spoke with RFD-TV’s own on the highlights from the summit, the takeaways when it comes to sustainability in the global marketplace, and how the industry looks to address environmental concerns.
“It’s really important to remember that a lot of these issues, and it’s everything from sustainability and environment and climate change... these things aren’t going away. This is part of the global agenda... and agriculture in the United States has a very good story to tell in that... In dairy, we have the Net Zero Initiative... You see a lot of individual farms coming up with innovative policies and practices that are going to need some federal support...” Bjerga explains. “We’re very thrilled that the United States is playing such a leading role with in it, and dairy is playing a leadership role within that area.”
