High Path Avian Flu has taken its toll on poultry, upended dairy farms in several states, and even infected some ag workers. However, state fair directors are not letting it slow down the festivities, as they work to keep both animals and attendees safe.
The Wisconsin State Fair is currently underway, and organizers have been taking extra safety precautions. The event’s lead veterinarian says the animal count is comparable with prior years. They tell Brownfield Ag News all animals are being closely monitored, and dairy cows go through state-required testing before arriving.
They are asking fair-goers to refrain from touching animals and to do thorough handwashing after visiting barns.
