We are learning more about the damage in Florida caused by Hurricane Milton, including to the state’s nursery infrastructure.

That includes damage to poinsettia plants which could lead to Christmas season shortages.

The manager of Ralph Taylor’s Nurseries in Bradenton, Florida told AgriPulse that for a lot of the growers in the area, it is not just recovery, but the financial stress and burden of losing six months’ worth of work and revenue that was put into a crop that is now gone.

The Florida Nursery, Growers, and Landscape Association estimates the state’s industry generates over $31 billion in sales annually.
