Three California dairies have confirmed cases of High Path Avian Flu in their herds, marking the 14th state to confirm cases in dairy cattle.
All three dairies are located in the state’s Central Valley. Dairy workers first began noticing symptoms on August 25th, and tests were sent to USDA labs where they confirmed the virus.
The state’s Health Department is working alongside the Ag Department to monitor workers at those facilities. The situation is not considered a public health threat, and officials stress the food and milk supply remains safe.
