Kenneth Ray Rogers was one of the best-selling artists of all time.
Rogers was born in Texas on August 21, 1938. By the 1950’s he was recording music. Over the years he would touch ever single genre of music in one way or the other, which would eventually lead to his lasting legacy. Sadly, in March of 2020, Rogers passed away.
In honor of his legacy, here are three of our favorite Kenny Rogers songs!
“The Gambler”
We are kicking off this list with one of Rogers most iconic songs. “The Gambler” was originally recorded by Bobby Bare and Johnny Cash, but when Rogers released it in 1978, it was a number 1 hit around the world. The story telling in this song is like no other. It also earned him a Grammy.
“Through the Years”
This song was not as big of a commercial success but still one of our favorites! Written by Steve Dorff and Marty Panzer, this 1981 hit was the fourth single off of Share Your Love. It would reach number 13 on the Adult Contemporary Chart, making it Rogers’ fifth song to do so.
“Islands in the Stream”
Rogers teamed up with the great Dolly Parton for this classic. This pop and country number 1 was originally written by the Bee Gees.
