Total damage in Virginia from Hurricane Helene could reach $630 million, which includes future losses

New data out of Virginia Tech shows that Hurricane Helene’s total damage on the state could reach as high as $630 million.

Extension agents and the Virginia Department of Forestry report an estimated $174 million in direct losses from the hurricane.
Also included in total damage estimates are future losses and ripple effects still unseen.

The report did include one bright spot, the university does not anticipate any impact on consumer food prices, but if you shop local, you might find your favorite products in short supply.
