Eric, Kaylee, and Lindsey Lipka are high school juniors and members of Wyman Hall’s FFA Chapter, which led them to revive the on-site garden at their high school for their SAE project where they grow a range of fresh produce to turn into delicious fresh food.
They landed on a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) where they worked in their school garden, growing crops and using them to make dishes like homemade salsa.
After consulting their teachers about working on an SAE project together, they landed on the school’s garden. Their teachers, Ms. Rose, Miss Samantha, Ms. Colden, and Miss Becker Lawer, have supported them with equipment and guidance. They advise other students to choose an SAE that they enjoy and that aligns with their future career goals.
Challenges included working in the rain and clearing weeds, but they overcame them through teamwork and support from their teachers. The SAE has helped them develop teamwork, cooperation, crop identification, safety, and sanitation skills. They plan to use these skills in their future careers, such as Eric’s ambition to become a doctor.
