Trucking shortages are impacting western potato and onion producers

Potato and onion markets are reporting truck shortages in the western U.S.
However, growers and shippers say that they have yet to see rate increases as a result.

One analyst says that the industry has seen a reduction of nearly 7,000 carrier authorities each month this year.

Shortages have also been reported of feer trucks, which carry perishable goods.

The holiday season is expected to be no help with drivers availability especially hard to come by.
Truck availability and prices are expected to return to normal trends after the new year.
